The 2022 CX-30, which resembles a more spacious, more rugged Mazda 3 hatchback, sits among the CX-5s in the brand’s small SUV line-up. The CX-30’s curving exterior design and near-premium cabin give it an upscale appearance that rivals small luxury crossovers like the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1, but its pricing is closer in line with mainstream subcompact SUVs like the Hyundai and the Volkswagen Taos. The base engine is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder with sluggish acceleration; hot-shoe drivers will prefer the optional turbocharged 2.5-litre.
What Is New in 2022?
For 2022, Mazda has made all-wheel drive standard across the CX-30 series, and a new Carbon Edition model is now available. The Carbon Edition model is based on the non-turbo CX-30 and features the same Polymetal Grey colour and red leather upholstery as other Carbon Edition Mazda’s, as well as black 18-inch wheels. Roof rails are now standard equipment on the Select model, and Platinum Quartz Metallic has been added to the colour palette.
