CMH Hatfield would like to share some information of – where from, who owns and where their cars are being manufactured.
Mazda is owned by the Mazda Motor Corporation. The company was first incorporated as Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd. In Hiroshima, Japan in the 1920 and later changed its name to Toyo Kogyo Co, in 1927. The company only officially changed its name to Mazda in 1984, although every vehicle produced bore the Mazda name as part of its model title.
The company first manufactured industrial tools before introducing the Mazdago “Autorickshaws”, a three-wheeled truck/motorcycle. As the world demanded more affordable cars, they compiled designs for more compact cars, trucks and three-wheeled vehicles that brought about the creation of the legendary Wankel rotary engine. Mazda was known solely for their three-wheeled carts, and the first passenger vehicle was created in 1940. The companies first real car, the Mazda R360 went into production in 1960 and entered the North American market in 1970 with the RX-2.
Currently Mazda models are built in a variety of locations both in Japan and America. There are two manufacturing facilities located in Hiroshima and another in Hofu, Japan. In addition to these three manufacturing facilities in Japan, there are a few in North America at Flat Rock, Michigan and Claycomo, Missouri.
Mazda’s global headquarters is still based in Hiroshima, Japan.

Maintaining a living can be very stressful; costs are rising, petrol doesn’t stop going up, interest rates as well, and as much as you try to cut down your expenses, you just don’t seem to make any progress or keep up with everything going on around you. As a valued client we would like you to know that we’re all about putting your finances first, which is why we’ve got a solution perfectly suited for your vehicle so that you have a peace of mind when it comes to your vehicle’s well being.
“At CMH Mazda Hatfield, we don’t only care for your car, but also for you – our customer.” A vehicle is a need in this age we live in so you need to have a vehicle that is well taken care of and doesn’t give you more headaches than a peace of mind. Therefore Mazda provides you with a 3-year unlimited kilometres warranty, service plan and roadside assistance for your vehicle. A warranty is specifically for your vehicle mechanical breakdown claims, whereas a service plan covers claims based on replacement of service parts such as oil, fuel filter, oil filter and air filter during your annual vehicle service.
“Having your car serviced at our dealer means getting professional service at competitive prices. For your car, it means fun to drive, reliability, safety and a favourable resale value.” It is essential to ensure that the vehicle is properly, regularly and punctually serviced according to the instructions and what is recommended by the vehicle manufacturer handbook.
It is very important to take note of the following when purchasing your vehicle (New or Pre-owned); so ask your sales executive these questions to avoid any inconveniences:
• Does the vehicle have a service book?
• When was it last serviced?
• If the vehicle was not serviced on time, what needs to happen next?
• What service intervals are expected from the warranty?
Please note the following isn’t normally covered in the manufacturer’s warranty:
• Internal and external trim, bodywork and paint due to normal wear and tear.
• All glass, tyres, wheels, wheel alignment, accessories, electrical wiring components
Ask your sales executive how you can get your vehicle covered for the above at a reasonable price with CMH Mazda Hatfield.

“A change is as good as a holiday” they say, well as you all know, the new BT-50 facelift was launched 1st of March 2017. All our Sales staff members was invited to the Mazda BT-50 Product Experience Event, held by Mazda Southern Africa, so that they can introduce, fill us in on all the specifications, prices and for us to experience the BT-50 first-hand, which we certainly did.
The event was held at Amazingwe Lodge (Conference Centre and Spa) in Hartbeestpoort from 13 – 17 February 2017. This was not your ordinary “product training’ experience, Mazda SA really went all-out:
When we arrived we were welcomed with some coffee and breakfast snacks to fuel us for the day. We also got a Mazda cooler bag and inside was water and all sorts of sweeties, like energy bars etc. for us to keep our energy levels up (which only made sense closer to the end of the day, when we were EXHAUSTED). We were briefed on what our agenda was for the day and to our surprise, it was one big adventure from start to finish.
And so it begins. We were split up in groups and each group was assigned to a Mazda BT-50 and inside was instructions, a map, facepaint and a buff for each team member. That’s when we knew things is about to get interesting. We read the instructions and followed the map to our first stop which was Zip-lining. Before we could continue, each team had to paint their faces, think of a team name as well as a team “war-cry” (we experienced quite some funny war-cries).
One Team member had to do the Zip-lining, while the rest of the team had to jump in the Mazda BT-50 and drive to the end point of the Zip-lining, but there was a catch! The rest of the team had to collect 5 small boxes in the bushes, on our way to the end point and in those boxes were puzzle pieces. The one doing the Zip-lining also had to collect puzzle pieces on his way through the Zip-lining course.
After the first adventure, our second stop was back to where we started. That’s when we had a quick session where they explained the changes of the Mazda BT-50 and what models and derivatives will be available. Then it was our favourite part of the day – LUNCH TIME! The buffet was incredible and the desert even more ravishing.
After indulging too much, it was time for adventure number 3 – THE 4X4 TRACK. The coolest and funniest part of the day. It is really amazing what the BT-50 can do on that track and still you feel as comfortable as driving a normal car. After being in the sun most of the day we were off to our 4th and final adventure, Paddle Power. Our maps took us just outside Amazingwe Lodge to a hidden place called “Paddle Power”. Two of your team members had to do a “crossbow target shooting” event and the other two members had to canoe across a river, one blindfolded. Well needless to say, it was great fun and you can just imagine how that went down.
It felt like our day ended so quickly, but don’t make a mistake, even our tired was tired. Mazda SA went all out with this event and made us experience the BT-50 for ourselves, what better way to sell a car if you know exactly what it can do.
We at CMH Mazda Hatfield would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mazda SA for the incredible BT-50 Product Experience Event. It was truly an awesome day. If you would like to experience the BT-50 for yourself, please go to our Dealer Page and “Book a Test-drive” so we can get in contact with you and get you “the” dream bakkie to have.

1. What is the mileage on the car? The lower the mileage the better the car, this means the car didn’t travel too much and had fewer owners. This also gives you security that even after purchasing the vehicle you won’t be alone to deal with any problems the car may encounter along the way. It is more of insurance that the dealership would still help you with service and any repairs the vehicle may need.
4. Service history and balance of factory warranty? This gives you an in in-depth understanding or knowledge about the vehicle’s previous maintenance or services the car underwent. You also have the security on repairs or faults the car may have; if the car is still in a good condition or accident free for example. This helps you determine what value you’re getting for your vehicle purchase and this also gives you insurance that you won’t be dealing with service repairs anytime soon after purchasing the car.
5. Financing? If you would like to take your car on finance, ask if they do have in-house financing and get as much details as you can to make sure you have all the facts and full information you need to make a sound decision. Ask if they offer insurance, extended warranty, or any other extras you might like to be added on the car you want to buy. Be sure to ask about all benefits you could gain from taking their in-house finance rather than going to other financial institutions or bank for a traditional car loan. Note: Do a car inspection by evaluating the vehicle yourself and do double checks. Checking the following is essential: windows, mirrors, paint, engine, tyres, brakes, fan belt, battery, lights and the vehicle interior; then ask to test drive the vehicle afterwards. After the inspection and you’ve received satisfying answers to your questions, it will now be up to you if you would like to make a deal with the dealership or not. We hope this article would make things easier for you if you’re in the car market. Success is not hoped for but earned; to be successful you need the strength, the right attitude, self-discipline and the ability to prioritize your goals. One has to commit to their fullest potential by putting in the hard work and dedication into becoming the best they can become in what they want to achieve.
Working hard and committing to what you do is significant. And being recognized and appreciated for the effort you put in your work absolutely increases morale. We took a moment to sit and talk with our top sales executives for the month of August; Corinne de Winnaar for the New Vehicle Department and Edward Magane for the Pre-owned Vehicle Department and here is what they had to say to the questions asked.
Let’s get to know them a bit more:
How many years do you have in the sales industry?
Corinne: I have been in the “Motor Industry” for 5 years, but selling cars for 2 years now.
Edward: I have been in the sales industry for 7 years
What is your work philosophy?
Corinne: The harder you work and the more you put in, the better your results at the end.
Edward: Stay hungry
How do you open a new relationship with a prospective client and/or create a new opportunity?
Corinne: First impressions plays a BIG role, so I usually smile very big, greet them properly and then sometimes throw in a joke to make them laugh and feel a bit more comfortable.
Edward: By first trying to know the customer’s expectations.
Tell us about a recent sale you lost, what happened and what did you learn from it?
Corinne: I had a vehicle in stock that met the customer’s expectations and she was also happy with the instalment, but she then told me to stop everything, because she fell in love with another vehicle. What did I learn? Don’t let them leave the dealership.
Edward: I was constantly pushing the client to take the deal and he did not want to be rushed into make a decision so he stopped taking my calls or responding to my emails. I learnt that not every client is the same.
What have you done/are you doing to make yourself a better sales executive?
Corinne: I like to learn from my fellow sales colleagues, asking questions, paying attention to what and how they do things. Paying attention is key!
Edward: Try to learn new things at all times.
What is the biggest mistake you’ve made when coming to closing a deal?
Corinne: It was one of my first Diplomatic deals, so the moment was very big for me and then I put in the discount but forgot to “de-VAT” it. The clients accepted the deal and I sold the vehicle at a loss. Blond much (She laughs).
Edward: Rushing to close deals, it puts pressure on me and my clients as well so sometimes the deals end up not happening.
What makes you passionate about selling?
Corinne: I am a HUGE people`s person. I absolutely love people, working with them and building relationships. (It’s not what you know, it’s who you know) so for me to meet new and different people EVERYDAY is fun, challenging and it keeps things interesting.
Edward: Every sale is a new experience, you meet different clients and they want things to be done their own way. Although it is challenging, you get to learn and adapt.
How is your relationship with your customers?
Corinne: I try to keep a good relationship with my customers, especially afterwards. As you get to know your clients, you know with whom you can joke with and with whom you need to stay completely professional. I try to go out of my way to give them good service, even after the sale (so that they have an awesome experience and memory of “When I bought my car…”, and of course, want to come back when it’s time for a new vehicle again)
Edward: Differs from one customer to another, but I always make sure that my customers remember my name when they leave the dealership.
How is your relationship with your team?
Corinne: I have THE BEST team ever! We see ourselves as a family. We pray together in the mornings, we hardly ever fight, we don’t steal each other’s deals, we help with each other`s deliveries (should something come up) and we always try to help each other out whether it’s a favour at work or personal.
Edward: I feel we don’t interact a lot since we are still a new team, but we talk and pick on each other’s brains.
You’ve been titled salesperson of the month, how does that make you feel?
Corinne: It makes me feel good and motivated, naturally, and that my hard work paid off. I always try to stay humble, because I would not have been able to do it by myself and through my own doings – Glory to God alone (which is also our team`s motto) Being the best for one month is great, but staying there is the hard part and what I strive for.
Edward: It is encouraging; you aim higher and work hard to keep yourself at the top.
As the saying goes “Hard Work Forever Pays”; striving to do and be better at what you do every day should be a priority. As our dealer principal always says; the only person stopping you to reach your goals is yourself.

We are proud to announce our new bigger and better “New Vehicle Department Showroom”. We were used to being described as the “small dealership” behind this and next to that. Now we are literally on the corner of a big interchange (Jan Shoba and Burnett streets) out in the open, in your faces where everybody can see us, just the way we like it.
After long negotiations, consideration and planning, we finally got the confirmation that the new showroom were to become ours and we could start with all the new renovations, for there were a lot to be done before moving over. On the 1st of December 2016 we had our grand opening with more than 20 new Mazda vehicles on the floor (where we were only used to 8 cars on the floor), 6 Salesmen, a Sales Manager, a Stock Controller, an F&I Manager and a Kids Play Station all in one showroom – What a blessing!
We could not be any happier. The “old” building still consists of the Used Car Department (just bigger now), Parts Department and Service Center and all is functioning as normal. Feel free to come and have a coffee with us (our coffee is the best) if you want to buy a new Mazda or even just to come and browse through our new showroom anytime you are in the area (especially when you have nothing to do on a Saturday).
Take a look at our before and after pictures:
