The 2022 Mazda CX-5 2.2 DE AWD Akera is Mazda Southern Africa’s top-of-the-range CX-5. This specific model is the 2.2l turbo diesel variant.
The CX-5 has been around in the SA market for five years. And the 2022 model received a few cosmetic changes on the exterior. Namely, the new L-shape LED lights in the front & rear redesigned front & rear bumpers, and the red pattern in the grille to distinguish the Akera from other models. The exhaust tips have also increased in size to give a sportier appearance.
The Akera flexes a 2.2l 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine which produces 140kW & 420Nm of torque. The diesel engine outputs minimal noise in the cabin, and the 6-speed automatic gearbox shifts effortlessly. The ride quality is smooth, and the new seats are super comfortable. The Mazda CX-5 Akera has a 58litre fuel tank.
The cabin has not changed much, as it retains the same infotainment system as the outgoing model. The CX-5 is one of the most popular SUVs on the market, and it’s not hard to see why. It boasts a 10-speaker Bose surround-sound system, 19-inch alloy wheels, Nappa leather upholstery with red stitching, and a heads-up display and navigation.
It is available in 10 colour options: soul-red crystal, arctic white, titanium flash, sonic silver, snowflake white pearl, polymetallic grey, machine grey, jet black, eternal blue, and deep blue crystal.
